We are proud of the deputies who work so hard to help make Calcasieu Parish a safe place to live. It is my belief we have one of the finest law enforcement agencies in the state. The men and women of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office are highly skilled professionals committed to their jobs and to the people they serve.
Congratulations to CPSO Deputy Ryan Mareno. He was recently promoted to Lieutenant in the Marine Division. He is pictured with Sheriff Tony Mancuso.

Earlier this month, CPSO Sgt. Joshua Fontenot was visiting a local school when a teacher suffered a medical emergency. The teacher hit her head and lost a significant amount of blood, becoming unresponsive. Sgt. Fontenot jumped into action, retrieving an AED machine from his unit and used it to revive the teacher.
He is shown here being recognized by Sheriff Tony Mancuso and receiving a CPSO Challenge Coin for this quick thinking and heroic actions. Way to go, Sgt. Fontenot!
Congratulations to Deputy Dylan Davis. Last week he was awarded as the 2022-2023 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the American Legion Post 1.
Earlier this month Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy John Ford was traveling on I-10 while off-duty, when he observed a car stalled on the bridge. Deputy Ford stopped and observed a woman with her young children stuck on the bridge during peak traffic hours. Deputy Ford took the time to stop traffic and help her get off the bridge to a safer area on the side of the road. Deputy Ford also waited with the woman until a family member was able to pick them up.

Way to go, Deputy Ford!
Earlier this year CPSO Lt. Dan Hebert responded to a call on Mark Lebleu Road in Lake Charles in reference to a woman passed out in her vehicle. During the call, the lady ended up driving her car through a pasture and into a pond. The car, which was in the middle of the pond, began sinking at which time Lt. Hebert jumped in the water. Lt. Hebert was able to push the vehicle to the bank before it sank and break the window to save the woman.

Last week, during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we celebrated our CPSO dispatchers! Congratulations to Deputy Callie Nunez, who was awarded CPSO Dispatcher of the Year.
During that week the CPSO Communications Division and RTCC were also recognized and named Best Overall Emergency Communications Team by Zetron, Inc.
Recently Sheriff Tony Mancuso presented Deputy Omri Wilcox with a CPSO Challenge Coin for his actions during a medical emergency involving an inmate at the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Due to Deputy Wilcox’s quick thinking the inmate was revived and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
This is just one of many times Deputy Wilcox has stepped up in a stressful situation. Keep up the great work!
Recently CPSO Deputy Bill Hambor, with the Reserve Division, was recognized by Sheriff Tony Mancuso for his dedication and volunteerism to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Bill Hambor has been volunteering in the Reserve Division for over 25 years and has participated and managed security for countless community events that take place annually such as Marsh Madness, Chennault Air Show, Rabbit Festival, Railroad Festival, Cal-Cam Fair, Louisiana Pirate Festival, and many others. Bill also supports local organizations in his CPSO Reserve capacity by assisting with local events hosted by the Junior League, St. Nicholas Center, Children’s Museum, along with numerous others.
Besides volunteering for events locally, Bill also does much on a personal level for deputies at CPSO. As soon as he hears of deputy in need, Bill is the first one to immediately get on his phone and attempt to organize help and assistance.
