CPSO ARRESTS STUDENT FOR THREAT

Lake Charles, LA –

Earlier today, at approximately 1:00 p.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives were dispatched to Moss Bluff Middle School in reference to a threat made by a student.

During the investigation it was learned the 13 year old made a threat to bring a gun to school.  He was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with terrorizing-menacing.

“I want to assure the community that the safety of our students and schools remains our top priority,” stated Calcasieu Sheriff Stitch Guillory.  “CPSO and CPSB have been doing everything within our power to maintain a secure and supportive environment for our students.  Unfortunately, some individuals have chosen to disrupt that peace through irresponsible actions.  We urge parents to have open conversations with their children about the consequences of making threats.  The sheriff’s office will continue to work closely with the school board to ensure these threats are addressed quickly and appropriately.”

CPSO Detective William Vaughan is the lead investigator on this case.  The Calcasieu Parish School Board assisted CPSO with the investigation.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
