CPSO SEARCHING FOR DRIVER OF SUV IN HIT & RUN

Lake Charles, LA –

On September 20, at approximately 9:00 a.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 2400 block of Toomey Road in Vinton in reference to a hit and run.

During the investigation deputies learned the driver of an SUV was traveling south on Toomey Road when it attempted to make a left hand turn into a parking lot.  The suspect’s SUV turned in front of another SUV that was traveling north, causing a crash.  The suspect then proceeded to enter the parking lot and exit onto Frontage Road, fleeing the scene.

The SUV is a white Ford Explorer and will have significant front-end damage.  Deputies attempted to locate the driver of the SUV, but have been unable to do so and believe the SUV may not have a license plate on the rear of the vehicle.  Anyone with information related to this accident is asked to call CPSO at 491-3605.

CPSO Sgt. Kerrick Gabriel, Jr., is the lead investigator on this case.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
