Lake Charles, LA –
On September 24, around 10:00 p.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a store on Hood Road in Sulphur in reference to an armed robbery.
During the initial investigation, detectives were advised an unknown man entered the store armed and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash and vaping devices and fled the store on foot.
During the investigation, it was discovered another similar robbery occurred in Lake Charles and was currently being investigated by the Lake Charles Police Department. During further investigation LCPD was able to identify a possible suspect as Corey D. Givens, 23, Lake Charles. On September 25, CPSO & LCPD were able to locate Givens at a local hotel. During a subsequent search, detectives recovered items linking Givens to the robbery. When detectives spoke with him he confirmed he was responsible for the robbery. He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 1st degree robbery. Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $95,000. LCPD also has additional charges on Givens.
