Calcasieu Sheriff Gary “Stitch” Guillory and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will host two upcoming Ladies Self-Defense & Firearm Safety Workshops. These workshops, which are taught by certified CPSO deputies, will be held on Saturday, October 19 and Saturday, November 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. They will be held at the CPSO Training Academy, located at 3958 Mallard Cove Drive in Lake Charles. These free workshops are open to women from Calcasieu Parish who are 18 years of age and older.
Participants will gain hands-on training and instruction in self-defense tactics, firearm handling, and safety practices in a controlled environment. After classroom discussions each lady will get a chance to fire their weapon on the shooting range. Ladies are asked to bring their own handgun inside a carrying case or holster along with 50 rounds of ammunition as well as ear and eye protection to wear while on the range.
