Lake Charles, LA –
On Tuesday, June 11, at approximately 7:40 p.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to single vehicle crash in the 2200 block of Old Spanish Trail in Westlake.
The preliminary investigation revealed a small SUV was traveling west on Old Spanish Trail when the vehicle exited the roadway for unknown reasons, striking a utility pole. The driver, Jami Gobert, 43, Sulphur, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The following day Gobert died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Gobert was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. As mandated by state law toxicology testing will be performed.
