CPSO ARREST JUVENILE FOR HIT & RUN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY

Lake Charles, LA –

 

On September 13, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to N. Claiborne Street (north of Granger Road) in Sulphur in reference to an accident. 

           

During the initial investigation, deputies learned a man traveling on a bicycle on Claiborne Street was struck by a vehicle, which left the scene prior to deputies arrival.  Deputies ultimately made contact with the 17 year old driver.  When speaking with the boy, deputies detected signs of impairment. 

           

After further investigation the 17 year old was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with hit and run serious bodily injury; DWI 1st; 1st degree vehicular negligent injuring; and possession of alcoholic beverages by person under 21. 

           

The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. 

 

The crash is still under investigation.  

           

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
