CPSO ARRESTS WOMAN FOR 2ND DEGREE MURDER OF 6 MONTH OLD

Lake Charles, LA –

Yesterday afternoon, around 3:45 p.m. an off-duty Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was flagged down by a motorist, later identified as Ivy L. Lee, 22, Lake Charles, in the area of Enterprise Boulevard and Broad Street in Lake Charles.  Lee advised the deputy her 6 month old child was not breathing.  Another CPSO deputy, who was patrolling in the area, was also flagged down.  Deputies immediately began performing life saving measures on the child and she was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

During the initial investigation Lee gave detectives two different stories, stating the child had not been in her care.  Ivy ultimately advised detectives she drove to her place of employment on Gerstner Memorial Drive in Lake Charles, at which time she left the child in her small SUV, for approximately 5 hours.  A search of the SUV revealed suspected marijuana inside.

After further investigation Lee was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 2nd degree murder; and possession of marijuana.  Judge Tony Fazzio set her bond at $1,204,000.

CPSO Detective Michelle Robinson is the lead investigator on this case.
