C.A.T. TEAM MAKES ARREST FOLLOWING EXECUTION OF SEARCH WARRANTS

Lake Charles, LA –

 

On July 8, detectives with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) along with the CPSO Anti-Crime and Tactical Team (ACT-Team) executed search warrants at 716 Macy Street, 719 Macy Street, and 2044 2nd Street, all in Lake Charles, in reference to a narcotics investigation involving Marquis Morris, 34, 2044 2nd Street, Lake Charles.

           

During the search of the residences detectives located approximately 73.18 grams of cocaine, 381.41 grams of synthetic marijuana, 1,168.37 grams of marijuana, 21.74 grams of heroin, 16.43 grams of methamphetamine, 6.94 grams of Xanax, 5.85 grams of crack cocaine, 4 firearms, and items of drug paraphernalia.  Detectives also seized over $46,000 believed to be illegal proceeds from drug transactions.  The estimated street value of the illegal narcotics seized is approximately $10,000. 

           

During the execution of the search warrants Daniel J. Wilford, 33, Lake Charles, arrived on scene attempting to cause a disturbance with detectives. 

           

Wilford was arrested and issued a signed misdemeanor summons and released on scene for resisting an officer; and interfering with a police investigation.  Morris, who was located at his residence during the execution of the search warrants, was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 4 counts of possession of CDS I with intent to distribute; 4 counts of possession of CDS II with intent to distribute; possession of CDS IV with intent to distribute; illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a CDS; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; possession of drug paraphernalia; resisting an officer; and money laundering.  Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $246,500.  It was also discovered Morris, who is currently on probation, had an out of state detainer from a previous narcotics arrest in Texas. 

           

The Combined Anti-Drug Task Force is a collaborative effort, comprised of law enforcement officials from local, state and federal agencies, aimed at ceasing the trafficking of illegal substances in Calcasieu Parish.
