Yesterday, Sunday, November 18 at approximately 11:45 p.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 4000 block of Navajo Trail in Vinton in reference to a one vehicle crash.
Evidence at the scene indicated the driver was travelling eastbound on Navajo Trail when the car left the roadway on the right side of the road and impacted with a culvert which caused the car to flip and eject the driver.
Richard Hammer, 34, Oakdale, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene. Hammer was the only person in the car.
The investigation is continuing and in accordance with Louisiana state law, standard toxicology testing will be performed on the driver.
