Lake Charles –
This morning at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer at Barbe High School received a tip from a student that another student was possibly in possession of a gun. The school was immediately placed on lockdown. The complainant identified the student by name at which time school administrators, after viewing surveillance video, were able to locate the student in a hallway.
CPSO deputies arrived on scene in less than a minute and made contact with the student and after a patdown learned he did not have a gun.
As a precautionary measure, CPSO deputies are in the process of doing a sweep at the school.
