Lake Charles -
Earlier today at approximately 10:15 a.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Red Davis McCollister Rd. in Lake Charles in reference to a two-vehicle crash. When deputies arrived they discovered a head-on collision had occurred between a pickup truck and a car. Deputies observed the truck was overturned and on fire in the ditch.
Evidence at the scene indicate the car was heading eastbound on Red Davis McCollister Rd. and the truck was heading westbound. The preliminary investigation reveals one of the vehicles crossed the center line for reasons unknown at this time, causing the car and the truck to collide.
Wilson T. Freeman, 24, Lake Charles, the driver of the car, and Morgan N. Jordan, 19, Lake Charles, the rear passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The front passenger in the car was airlifted to a hospital out of town and is listed in critical condition. The driver of the truck was able to crawl out of the truck through the windshield and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and is listed in serious condition.
The investigation is continuing and in accordance with Louisiana state law, standard toxicology testing will be performed on both drivers.
