Lake Charles, LA –
On June 29, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received two complaints regarding Robert Lee Sargent, Sr., 56, 3311 Deer Run Road, Lake Charles, having inappropriate sexual contact with two girls.
During the investigation it was learned that one of the victims was Sargent’s family member, whom he sexually assaulted approximately 28 years ago, from the age of 2 until she was 11. Through this investigation it was also learned that Sargent had inappropriate sexual contact on several occasions with a child who lived in the neighborhood starting in 2010 when she was 6 years old and lasting until January 2015. All of the incidents occurred at Sargent’s house.
Sargent was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 1 count of aggravated rape; 5 counts of sexual battery; and 4 counts of aggravated incest. A new LA law has changed the crime of incest to crime against nature, but Sargent was charged under the old law because the unlawful occurrences happened prior to the new law becoming effective.
Judge Robert Wyatt set his bond at $450,000.
CPSO Detective Cinnamon Salvador is lead investigator in the case.
