Lake Charles –
Yesterday, March 18, during the early morning hours, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a medical emergency call at a home on Parish Line Road in DeQuincy. When deputies arrived they discovered Mary Franklin, 56, Parish Line Road, DeQuincy, laying near the driveway leading to her residence. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Based on statements obtained and other evidence, it was determined James Abdalla Jr., 85, Parish Line Road, DeQuincy, was operating his pickup truck on the driveway when he struck Franklin. Abdalla and Franklin were long time companions and lived together.
Abdalla was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with vehicular homicide.
Judge Ron Ware set his bond at $60,000.
